Ignition Coil Driver




This circuit uses a 555 timer to send a square wave to a 2N3055 transistor used to operate a normal automotive ignition coil.
As you can see on the right, I have mounted everything inside a medium sized project box. I used the snap off IC sockets to make an interchangeable capacitor termination to give it a vast fequency selection.

I recently aquired an HEI Ignition Coil. This is basically just a more powerful ignition coil. You can see the difference to the left.
